AN ARCHIVE OF THINGS SAID AT 2:13 AM

The group chat deserves a museum wing

Civilisations leave pottery, monuments and accidentally screenshotted voice notes. We propose a proper institution for the last one.

Gallery A / The reaction image renaissance

A single blurry face can now communicate suspicion, administrative fatigue and romantic disappointment. Curators will display each image beside the seven increasingly specific situations it survived. Visitors must observe in silence, then send it to someone with no context.

Gallery B / Deleted messages

A dark room containing only the words ‘This message was deleted.’ The absence is the artwork. Was it gossip? A confession? An unflattering screenshot sent to the person in the screenshot? The viewer supplies the panic.

Gallery C / Voice notes over four minutes

Presented as durational performance. Benches are provided. The artist begins with ‘okay, long story short’ and immediately proves otherwise. A transcript on the wall becomes progressively less useful as breathing, traffic and side quests take over.

The gift shop

Naturally, the museum exits through oversized T-shirts printed with the phrases that held communities together: ‘I saw it. I chose peace.’ ‘Per my last breakdown.’ ‘Manifesting without evidence.’ Culture deserves conservation, preferably in 240 GSM cotton.
